Purpose

The purpose of this notice is to inform applicants who plan to submit to Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) PAR-20-238 "Intervention Research to Improve Native American Health (R01 Clinical Trial Optional)" for the May, 17, 2022 and May 17, 2023 deadlines that, as a result of continuing hardships faced by organizations that serve Native Americans, Letters of Support from community collaborators, Native Hawaiian communities and American Indian or Alaska Native Tribal Governments may be received by NIH as Post Submission Materials as late as August 16, 2022 for the May 17, 2022 receipt date or August 16, 2023 for the May 17, 2023 receipt date. All other application materials, including Letters of Support from collaborators with academic or research organization affiliations, must be received by May 17 receipt date of the year in which the application is submitted. Changes to the funding opportunity announcement are as follows:

Note that letters of support from Key Personnel and consultants with academic or research organization affiliations must be submitted by the May 17 receipt date of the year it is submitted by 5:00 PM local time of applicant organization.

For the May 17, 2022 and the May 17, 2023 receipt date: Letters of Support sent as Post submission materials must be submitted as PDFs by the Authorized Organization Representative (AOR) of the applicant organization. Although the post-submission materials may originate from the PD/PI, Contact PD/PI, or organizational officials, the AOR must send the materials directly to the SRO or must send his/her concurrence to the PD/PI who will forward the materials and concurrence to the SRO. A communication from the PD/PI only or with a "cc" to the AOR will not be accepted. If the Letters of Support are submitted after the May 17th, each letter should contain the following:
