National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) intends to publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) to solicit research applications that will develop and evaluate methods for implementing drug abuse prevention and treatment in primary care settings. Research is needed to address the barriers to integration of drug abuse prevention and treatment interventions, including maintaining fidelity to core elements, consistent quality of service delivery, adequate training and staffing, supportive billing and other business practices, and accommodation of issues related to regulatory compliance and confidentiality. Applications may focus on delivery of drug abuse prevention in pediatric, adolescent medicine, and obstetric settings, or on delivery of treatment in adolescent and adult primary care settings. Projects should focus on the implementation of evidence-based prevention and/or treatment services; this FOA is not intended to support the development of novel prevention and treatment interventions, per se, but should focus on service integration topics. Applicants are strongly encouraged to develop projects that build on existing primary care networks and infrastructures to maximize efficient use of project resources and to enhance the likelihood of sustainability.
This Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants
sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive
projects.
The FOA is expected to be published in Spring 2011 with an expected receipt
date in early Fall 2011.
This FOA will utilize the R01 grant mechanism.
APPLICATIONS ARE NOT BEING SOLICITED AT THIS TIME.
