The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), with other possible participating NIH Institutes and Centers (IC's), intends to publish a Request for Applications (RFA) soliciting applications for exploratory research focusing on the use of brain imaging methods to determine the impact and processing of information related to drug use prevention messages. Such studies would be optimally conducted by interdisciplinary teams that include researchers with brain imaging, cognitive neuroscience, prevention, and communication research expertise. A particular emphasis will be placed on how brain responses to prevention messages vary across different developmental stages and age groups. The RFA is expected to be published in November, 2006 with an expected receipt date in March, 2007. A technical assistance meeting will be scheduled to orient potential applicants to the goals of this RFA.
