CHANGE TO DRUG ABUSE DISSERTATION RESEARCH: EPIDEMIOLOGY, PREVENTION, TREATMENT, SERVICES, AND WOMEN AND GENDER DIFFERENCES (PA-02-055) RELEASE DATE: April 8, 2003 NOTICE: NOT-DA-03-002 National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) (http://www.nida.nih.gov) PURPOSE This is a change to the Program Announcement "Drug Abuse Dissertation Research: Epidemiology, Prevention, Treatment, Services, and Women and Gender Differences," published in the NIH Guide, February 5, 2002, (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PA-02-055.html). The maximum salary for principal investigators with NIDA's dissertation applications is raised from $18,156-$19,968 per year to make it comparable to the new NIH stipend for NRSA predoctoral fellows (see Revision of March 7, 2003 Notice about Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Stipend Increase and Other Budgetary Changes Effective For Fiscal Year 2003, at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-03-036.html.) This increase in salary would be achieved by having the principal investigator re-allocate funds within their budget so that the total direct costs requested would still not exceed the maximum of $50,000 per year as allowed by NIDA.
