Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to inform current NCI Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition awardees that NCI has updated the salary levels for K00 recipients. The new salary levels are posted in Table 1 below and on the F99/K00 program website: The NCI Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition Award (F99/K00). The NCI Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition Award (F99/K00) supports promising Ph.D. and other research doctoral candidates to complete their dissertation research training (F99 phase) and transition in a timely manner to mentored, cancer-focused postdoctoral career development research positions (K00 phase).
 

Recipients of an NCI K00 award whose current institutional base salary exceeds the previous K00 cap may include a request for the increased salary in Section G. 1. of the Research Performance Progress Report (RPPR) for their FY 2024 award.  Recipients whose K00 awards have already been issued for FY 2024 (i.e. since October 2023) may submit an administrative supplement application to request funding up to the new salary levels shown in Table 1 beginning with their FY 2024 budget period.  Administrative Supplement requests must be submitted in response to the NIH Administrative Supplement Notice of Funding Opportunity, “Administrative Supplements to Existing NIH Grants and Cooperative Agreements (Parent Admin Supp Clinical Trial Optional)”, PA-20-272.

This Notice impacts applicants to RFA-CA-23-042, "The NCI Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition Award (F99/K00)" and awardees from its predecessor RFAs: RFA-CA-22-041, RFA-CA-21-059, RFA-CA-20-048, RFA-CA-19-057, RFA-CA-19-002, RFA-CA-18-001, and RFA-CA-17-014. 
 

Any future changes in K00 salary levels will be announced through the publication of an NIH Guide Notice and will be posted on the F99/K00 program website: The NCI Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Fellow Transition Award (F99/K00).
