The National Cancer Institute (NCI) announces the availability of funds in Fiscal Year 2008 for administrative supplements in AIDS-associated malignancies to ongoing NCI-funded research projects. These administrative supplements are intended to encourage and support new multidisciplinary scientific collaborations among NCI grantees, as well as with other members of the scientific community. This initiative, known as the Activities to Promote Research Collaborations in AIDS-Associated Malignancies (APRC-AAM), supports collaborative interdisciplinary activities that bring together ideas and approaches from disparate scientific disciplines.

To be eligible for the APRC-AAM administrative supplements, the proposed collaborative activity (i) must be new and (ii) must remain within the overall scope of the active parent award. The PI must have an active R01, R37, P01, U01, R33, R42, or R44 grant, with at least one full year remaining at the time of anticipated funding (September 1, 2008). No other grant mechanisms are eligible.

A full description of the APRC-AAM program and the FY08 guidelines can be found at the following web site: http://dcb.nci.nih.gov/newsdetail.cfm?ID=36. It details the opportunities available to NCI grantees for collaborative activities funded with administrative supplements to their active grants and the mechanisms for requesting these supplements.

Investigators funded by NCI who are interested in applying for an APRC-AAM administrative supplement must contact their NCI Program Official prior to submitting a request to discuss whether the planned collaborations are responsive.
