Announcement

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) confirms in this Notice, as previously announced in the Institute/Center-Specific Notes section of PA-06-133, that effective July 2, 2006, it replaced the expiring NCI Howard Temin (K01) Award (PAR-03-104), with the NIH Pathway to Independence (K99/R00) Award (PA-07-297).  Because there are NCI-specific submission requirements for K99/R00 applications, applicants should refer to PA-07-297, as well as to the NCI portion of the contacts information for that PA (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/contacts/pa-07-297_contacts.htm), for complete information.

The NCI continues to accept K01 applications, but only in response to PAR-06-220, which is entitled “NCI Mentored Career Development Award to Promote Diversity (K01).”  The NCI is listed on PA-06-001, entitled “Mentored Research Scientist Development Award (K01),” but only for the purpose of referring applicants to PAR-06-220, as specified in the NCI portion of the contacts information for PA-06-001 (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/contacts/pa-06-001_contacts.htm).

Applicants should refer to http://www.cancer.gov/researchandfunding/training for information on additional NCI support for cancer research training and career development.
