Purpose
This notice is to inform applicants that the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) is participating as a co-sponsor of the program announcement (PA), PA-07-205, entitled “Research on the Economics of Diet, Activity, and Energy Balance.” NICHD was a participating co-sponsor of the prior PA, PA-05-009, of the same title, and was, by error, left off of the list of participating NIH institutes and centers when that PA was reissued on December 19, 2006, as PA-07-205.
The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD)(http://www.nichd.nih.gov/) has a long history of supporting social and behavioral sciences research on child and family health and well-being. NICHD-funded research covers such topics as: the relationship among human capital, education, and labor force participation and health; the effects of policies and other population-level interventions on health; and the effect of the social, economic, political, institutional (e.g., health service, school), cultural, and physical environments on health over the life course. With regard to this program announcement, the NICHD is particularly interested in the influences of available resources, policy, income dynamics, family structure, and decision-making within the household and larger institutions on diet, activity, and energy balance of children, youth, and families.
