This addendum is to inform potential applicants of co-sponsorship of 
the Program Announcement, PA-04-114, by the Office of Dietary 
Supplements/Office of the Director/NIH.   

The mission and strategic goals of the Office of Dietary Supplements 
(ODS) are aligned with the objectives of this program announcement to 
promote and support the development and improvement of methodologies 
appropriate to the scientific study of dietary supplement ingredients 
and other bioactive components. More specifically, the ODS seeks to 
facilitate research on validation of the accuracy, sensitivity, and 
specificity of unique biomarkers of dietary supplement effects on known 
endpoints and their surrogates associated with specific chronic 
diseases, optimal health, and improved performance. 

This program announcement has relevance to a number of ongoing ODS 
initiatives with the National Cancer Institute. 

No additional language needs to be added to this program announcement 
to reflect the interests of the ODS, as our interests are clearly in 
tandem with the NCI.
