PRE-APPLICATION MEETING FOR TRANSDISCIPLINARY TOBACCO USE RESEARCH 
CENTERS

NCI, NIDA, and NIAAA will hold a pre-application informational 
electronic meeting for investigators planning to submit applications in 
response to Request for Applications (RFA) - CA-04-012, 
"Transdisciplinary Tobacco Use Research Centers." This meeting will 
provide prospective applicants with an opportunity in a public meeting 
to receive answers to their questions about the RFA. Representatives 
from the following offices will be available to answer questions 
relevant to applications responding to the RFA: Division of Cancer 
Control and Research Population Sciences (NCI), Division of 
Neuroscience and Behavioral Research (NIDA), Division of Treatment and 
Recovery Research (NIAAA), Grants Administration Branch (NCI), and the 
Division of Extramural Activities (NCI). Staff will be available to 
discuss the intent and requirements of the RFA.  The complete text of

Potential applicants to the RFA are not required to attend the 
pre-application meeting. A written transcript of the meeting will be 
posted at 
http://dccps.nci.nih.gov/communicationcenters/index.html 
as a public document as soon as possible after the meeting to provide 
applicants unable to attend the meeting with access to the proceedings. 
All applicants are strongly encouraged to discuss their applications with 
one of the program directors listed below as early as possible in the 
process.

The meeting will be held via a webcast with telephone interaction.  
Instructions to access the pre-application meeting will be posted at 
http://tobaccocontrol.cancer.gov/tturc/ by November 5, 2003.  
Registration is required for participation in the pre-application 
meeting to facilitate technical planning. Participants may register 
with Ms. Ruth Stadius at [email protected] by providing the name of 
the Principal Investigator, telephone number, e-mail address and 
institutional affiliation.  The deadline for Registration is 
November 11, 2003. 

This meeting is open to the public.
