INSTRUMENTATION GRANTS FOR IMAGING EQUIPMENT USED IN CLINICAL TRIALS: ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPLEMENTS TO CANCER CENTER SUPPORT GRANTS (P30) RELEASE DATE: April 11, 2003 NOTICE: NOT-CA-03-026 National Cancer Institute (NCI) (http://www.nci.nih.gov/) The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is announcing the availability of administrative supplemental funds for NCI-funded cancer center grantees (P30s) (domestic only). The primary purpose of this initiative is to provide matching funds to assist in the acquisition of and/or significant upgrades to dedicated clinical research imaging equipment (software and/or hardware), in order to optimize the use of imaging as a biomarker in Phase 1 and 2 oncologic trials. It is strongly encouraged that the Principal Investigator (PI) identify a Co-PI affiliated with the cancer center who has clinical or technical competence with the proposed instrument for clinical oncology trials. The initiative is part of a continuing effort to stimulate and strengthen the use of imaging techniques in cancer research. NCI-funded cancer centers possess the infrastructure, organization, leadership, and integrated multidisciplinary research objectives that enable them to build and incorporate new imaging technologies into cancer clinical trials. NCI staff will contact the current grantees directly regarding application procedures and format.
