MODIFICATION OF ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT FOR NCI MENTORED CAREER
DEVELOPMENT AWARD FOR UNDERREPRESENTED MINORITIES (K01)

The Comprehensive Minority Biomedical Branch (CMBB), Office of Centers,
Training and Resources, Office of the Deputy Director for Extramural
Science, National Cancer Institute wishes to announce that the
ELIGIBILITY section of PAR-03-016, NCI Mentored Career Development
Award for Underrepresented Minorities (K01), has been modified as
follows:
"For purposes of this Program Announcement, underrepresented minority
candidates include individuals belonging to particular ethnic, racial
and other groups determined by the grantee institution to be
underrepresented in cancer-related biomedical, behavioral, clinical, or
social sciences research. Underrepresented minority candidates are not
limited to racial and ethnic minorities but can also include
individuals, as selected by the institution, as underrepresented as
cancer researchers, e.g., first generation college graduates, socio-
economically disadvantaged, etc."
The modified eligibility criteria for the NCI Mentored Career
Development Award for Underrepresented Minorities (K01) are available
on the CMBB website: http://minorityopportunities.nci.nih.gov. All
other provisions of PAR-03-016 remain unchanged.
