Purpose

This Notice serves to clarify and add research examples supported by PAR-20-266: “Promoting Research on Music and Health: Phased Innovation Award for Music Interventions (R61/R33 Clinical Trial Optional).” The following examples are added for the R61 Phase and R33 Phase as topics of interest:

Research Objectives and Specific Requirements

The R61 Phase

Examples of topics of high interests for the R61 phase include, but are not limited to:

  • Assessing feasibility to enroll and retain study population, deliver and/or implement proposed music-based inventions, collect data, etc, and/or assess acceptability using qualitative or quantitative measuress, that may determine reasons for dropouts, such as preference ratings, assessmets of participant burden, and perceived credibility/value of the interventions.

The R33 Phase

Examples of R33 phase projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Mechanistic studies examing music-based interventions in research participants, if the R61 phase focuses on feasibility and/or acceptability of the planned (R33) randomized mechanistic clinical trial.

All other aspects of this FOA remain unchanged.
