Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to inform potential applicants for postdoctoral fellowship applications (F32) (https://grants.nih.gov/training/F_files_nrsa.htm) of a policy and procedure regarding acceptance, peer review, and funding of investigator-initiated clinical trials and studies and to inform postdoctoral fellows funded under the auspices of an institutional training grant of a parallel policy.

Likewise, T32 programs should not allow fellows appointed by the institution to conduct new, free-standing clinical trials or studies.
