NCCAM announces expanded eligibility for PAR-07-003, which provides research career development support for complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) practitioners who desire to pursue a career in CAM research.  Eligible candidates now include:

  • Additional individuals with a CAM health professional doctoral degree (CAM clinical doctorate). The previous exclusion of individuals who also hold a conventional biomedical or behavioral research or clinical doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D. or M.D.) has been removed. As before, eligible CAM clinical doctorates include, but are not limited to, Doctor of Chiropractic (DC), Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND), Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM), and Doctor of Osteopathy (DO).
  • Individuals with a conventional biomedical or behavioral research or clinical doctoral degree (Ph.D. or M.D.) who also have a state license to practice a CAM profession.

Individuals interested in CAM research training who are not eligible for this K01 award are encouraged to consider other NCCAM research training and career development awards. These are described on the NCCAM website at www.nccam.nih.gov/training/opportunities.
