Clarification to NIAMS RFA-AR-12-001, Multidisciplinary Clinical Research Centers (P60)

National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS)

This Notice is to provide clarification regarding the page limits, format, and scoring of review criteria of applications submitted in response to NIAMS RFA-AR-12-001, Multidisciplinary Clinical Research Centers (P60). Currently, the FOA states that:

All page limitations described in the PHS398 Application Guide must be followed, with the following exceptions or additional requirements:

• Overview section: 12 pages
• Research Strategy section for each individual project and core: 12 pages
• Pilot/Feasibility projects (if applicable): 6 pages

The NIAMS wishes to clarify that the Overview section refers to the following components of the application:

• Qualification of Center Leadership
• Research Base for the MCRC
• Institutional Environment and Resources

The following sections are not considered to be part of the Overview:

Table of Research Grants for Research Base - Exhibit II

• Letters of Support
• Biosketches
• Progress Report (Overall Center) for Renewal applications

The NIAMS wishes to clarify that the review committee will not provide scores for the individual review criteria for the Overall Center component of applications.

All other aspects of RFA-AR-12-001 remain unchanged.
