The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS)
will participate in Request for Applications CA-03-013 "Molecular
Interactions Between Tumor Cells And Bone," which was released in the
NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts on May 9, 2002
(https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-CA-03-013.html).

The bone microenvironment is a key factor in the metastasis to bone of
cancers such as prostate, breast, and multiple myeloma. The processes
of bone resorption and bone formation, and the mechanisms of their
regulation, are integral to the morbidity that occurs as a consequence
of metastasis to bone. The NIAMS intends to commit approximately
$500,000 in FY 2003 to fund proposals received in response to this
initiative.
