DEVELOPMENT OF A DERMATOLOGY LEXICON Release Date: December 20, 2000 NOTICE: AR-01-003 RFP AVAILABLE: NIH-NIAMS-01-03 National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), National Institutes of Health, is seeking an organization to develop and implement a standard complete reference terminology for terms used in dermatologic description and diagnosis to facilitate clinical informatics research in skin disease and patient care education and teaching in dermatology. The Contractor will develop and validate a list of terms and their definitions, convene a panel of outside experts to assist in the selection and definition of the terms, and create a web-enabled application which will connect to a searchable, updatable database. The end result will be an Internet-based dermatology lexicon that can be accessed for free by the public/research community. It is anticipated that one cost reimbursement contract award will be made for a period of four years beginning on or about August 1, 2001. The solicitation NIH-NIAMS-01-03 will be available electronically on or about fifteen days from the date of this notice and may be accessed through the Internet at the following address: http://www.nih.gov/niams/grants/rfp/rfplist.htm. Proposals will be due on or about February 26, 2001.
