May 8, 2024
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)
Beginning with applications submitted for receipt dates on or after September 25, 2024, NIAID will limit the total number of predoctoral and/or postdoctoral training slots to a maximum of 8 trainee slots/training grant in any given year for the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Institutional Research Training Grant (Parent T32) or any reissue of this funding opportunity as an operational accommodation due to budgetary constraints. This is for competing and non-competing T32 grants. Current NIAID T32 grantees with 10 or more than 10 trainee slots/year will need to reduce their number of slots by not reappointing vacated slots until the 8-slot limit is reached and maintained. Furthermore, for competing renewal (T2) applications, the maximum increase in the number of trainee slots from the past non-competing (T5) year will be 2, up to the maximum 8-slot limit.
