Purpose

This notice replaces NOT-AI-18-040 and updates the submission policy.

NIAID allows up to two opportunities to submit T32 [Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Institutional Research Training Grant (Parent T32) (PA-18-403 )] or T35 [Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Short-Term Institutional Research Training Grant (Parent T35) (PA-18-404 )] applications for funding consideration in the same fiscal year. Beginning with the September 25, 2019 application due date, NIAID will NOT accept for review any competitive renewal (Type 2 or T2) T32 or T35 application that is submitted too early that is the T2 application would be funded (if it has a meritorious score) in the same fiscal year as an existing noncompeting (Type 5 or T5) award. NIAID cannot make two separate awards (a T2 and T5) for the same program in the same fiscal year and NIAID will not hold the T2 award for funding in later fiscal year. Any early T2 T32 or T35 application will be withdrawn; PD(s)/PI(s) will have the option of submitting the renewal application later.
