Section II Award information

2. Funds Available

NIAID intends to commit approximately $8.5M for this FOA for fiscal year 2011 to fund 1 to 2 applications.

Consortium facilities and administrative costs are not included in the direct cost cap.

Additional funds will not be provided for acquisition of major instrumentation exceeding $25,000. However, funds can be requested if adequately justified, for modification of existing equipment such as expansion of optical detection capabilities needed to facilitate the project.  It is expected that a request for additional funds will not exceed $25,000.

Because the nature and scope of the proposed research will vary from application to application, it is anticipated that the size and duration of each award will also vary. Although the financial plans of the IC(s) provide support for this program, awards pursuant to this funding opportunity are contingent upon the availability of funds.

Facilities and Administrative (F&A) costs requested by consortium participants are not included in the direct cost limitation. See NOT-OD-05-004.

NIH grants policies as described in the NIH Grants Policy Statement will apply to the applications submitted and awards made in response to this FOA.

NOTE: All other aspects of this FOA remain unchanged.
