Notice Number: NOT-AI-05-050
Key Dates
Release Date: July 8, 2005
The purpose of this Notice is to inform potential applicants for K-series award of changes in NIAID policies and procedures for the acceptance, peer review, and funding of investigator-initiated clinical trials.
NIAID will not accept K-series applications proposing to conduct new free-standing clinical trials. Career development awardees are encouraged to participate in the planning, design, and implementation of ongoing clinical trials being conducted at the awardee institution to gain the training and experience needed to become independent clinical investigators.
This change is consistent with the recently announced NIAID policy on the support of investigator-initiated clinical trials: https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-AI-05-021.html.
