published in the NIH Guide on September 4, 2003. The section, ELIGIBLE
INSTITUTIONS, contained contradictory statements concerning the
eligibility of foreign institutions. Foreign institutions are
ineligible to apply. The following is the corrected version of this
section:
ELIGIBLE INSTITUTIONS
Applicants may submit (an) application(s) if their institution has any
of the following characteristics:
o For-profit or non-profit organizations
o Public or private institutions, such as universities, colleges,
hospitals, and laboratories
o Units of state and local governments
o Eligible agencies of the Federal government
o Domestic institutions/organizations
o Faith-based or community-based organizations
o Tribal governments
Collaboration between research institutions and community-based
organizations is strongly encouraged.
