ALTERATIONS AND RENOVATIONS SUPPORT - ADDENDUM TO PA-03-080

The purpose of the addendum is to inform potential applicants about the 
availability of funds for alterations and renovations (A&R) to awardees 
funded under PA-030-080, BIODEFENSE AND EMERGING INFECTIOUS DISEASE 
RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/
PA-03-080.html).

Three types of grants may be applied for in response to PA-03-080: (1) 
Exploratory/Developmental (R21) grants; (2) Research Project (R01) 
grants; and, (3) Program Project (P01) grants.

Exploratory/Developmental (R21) grants.  A&R funds may not be 
requested.

Research Project (R01) grants. Applicants may request funds for 
alterations and renovations (up to $200,000) to ensure that the 
research aims can be met and biohazards can be contained. Funds for 
these purposes must be included in the first year's requested budget. 

Program Project (P01) grants. Applicants may request funds for 
alterations and renovations (up to $300,000) to ensure that that 
research aims can be met and biohazards can be contained. Funds for 
these purposes must be included in the first year's requested budget.
