National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases

The Division of AIDS (DAIDS) of the National Institute of Allergy and 
Infectious Diseases (NIAID) announces the closure of Program 
Announcement, PA-98-091, MECHANISMS OF AIDS PATHOGENESIS, COLLABORATIVE 
TEAMS that appeared in the NIH Guide on July 8, 1998. The final receipt 
date for applications was January 2, 2001.

The PA encouraged collaboration among investigators and disciplines in 
seeking understanding of the mechanisms by which HIV causes pathology 
in the host. The PA has resulted in a research program that has become 
self-sustaining. Investigator-initiated research on mechanisms of AIDS 
pathogenesis are still strongly encouraged through investigator-
initiated R01 and P01 applications.
