Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to inform potential applicants that the National Institute on Aging (NIA) will hold a pre-application technical assistance live webinar for RFA-AG-23-012, RFA-AG-23-013, and RFA-AG-23-015 on Monday, July 25 at 1:00-2:30 PM ET.

RFA-AG-23-012 invites R01 applications for innovative, mechanistic approaches to identify and characterize interactions of aging hallmarks shaped by inter-organelle communication, as well as novel roles of inter-organelle communications in lifespan-extending interventions, adaptations to stressors and maintenance of homeostasis.

RFA-AG-23-013 invites R01 applications to increase our understanding of interactions among hallmarks of aging and their regulation. Research supported by this FOA should explore the timing and possible priorities (hierarchy) among the hallmarks in various cells/tissues across the lifespan, and whether the interactions between the hallmarks are adaptive or maladaptive.

RFA-AG-23-015 invites R01 applications on the cytosolic DNA sensing mechanisms in the interactions of aging hallmarks. This FOA supports applications that will lead to an in-depth understanding of the molecular mechanisms that determine the effects of cytosolic DNAs on aging hallmarks in the context of aging and longevity.

These three inter-connected FOAs have an overarching focus on the aging hallmarks and their interactions as a framework for innovative research in aging biology. Participants of this live webinar are strongly encouraged to review the RFA announcements and be prepared to ask questions on the three RFAs. The live webinar will address questions submitted by participants prior to and during the webinar. Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to submit questions prior to the webinar to the Scientific Contacts of the three RFAs (see below). Questions posted during the live session can be submitted through the chat feature.

Potential applicants interested in participating in the webinar should register using this link: Zoom Registration Link. Webinar connection information will be provided to registered participants.

The webinar is optional and is not required for submission to the FOAs.
