Purpose

The National Institute on Aging (NIA) intends to publish a new Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) to encourage applications for the development of an Alzheimer's disease clinical trial consortium.

This Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects. 

The FOA is expected to be published in July 2016, with an application due date in September 2016.

This FOA will utilize the U24 activity code.

Research Initiative Details

The planned Alzheimer's disease clinical-trials consortium FOA, announced by this Notice, is intended to attract investigators with expertise in large-scale, multi-site clinical trials for the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. The planned Alzheimer's clinical trial consortium FOA also seeks investigators with expertise in public-private partnerships, multidisciplinary research, successful participant recruitment, and clinical trial design.

The consortium will be composed of a clinical and data coordinating center(s) and clinical trials sites.

NIA intends awards from the ADCTC FOA to be used for infrastructure development for the consortium. Clinical trials utilizing the consortium will be funded separately.
