Purpose

The purpose of the Notice is to revise the Objectives of the FOA as indicated in the Funding Opportunity Description.

Part 2. Section I. Funding Opportunity Description

FOA currently reads:

Objectives
The goals of this FOA are to 1) leverage data from existing cohorts or other studies to do secondary analyses focused on health disparities in AD; 2) develop improved measures for collection of data on health disparities research related to AD; 3) compare practices in community outreach, engagement and participatory research for a variety of populations; 4) develop improved recruitment and retention strategies and approaches for a variety of populations.

Research topics of interest include:

  • Robust estimates of Alzheimer's disease in diverse cohorts;
  • Mechanisms by which education contributes to declines in the age-specific risk of dementia;
  • Projections of the future burden of dementia in diverse cohorts;
  • Analyses focusing on the relationship of race, education, comorbidities and geographic location on dementia risk and cognitive resilience;
  • Analyses of the challenges and burdens faced by informal/family caregivers from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds that are associated with the growing population of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Analyses of the disparities in access to and utilization of formal long-term supports and services for those with dementia.
  • Strategies for recruitment and retention that overcome logistical barriers and disparities in clinical research and clinical trial participation.
