Certificates of Confidentiality Contacts at NIH and Other DHHS Agencies that issue Certificates

Below is a list of NIH Certificate Coordinators who can be contacted for additional information about Certificates of Confidentiality. If there is no representative for an Institute or Center (IC) funding research in your area, you can contact the first Central Resources person listed below.

At NIH, Certificates of Confidentiality are issued by individual NIH ICs. If your research is funded by NIH, please direct your Certificate application to the coordinator listed below from the funding IC. If your research is not funded by NIH or another DHHS agency that issues Certificates, your application will be reviewed by the IC that supports similar research; please contact the appropriate IC coordinator before submitting an application. If you are unsure about which IC is most appropriate for your research area, you may contact the first Central Resource person listed below. However, DO NOT send applications to the Central Resource.

Some NIH ICs use an online application process; these are noted under the IC name below. For certain ICs, the on-line system is only for new CoC applications. To request an amendment or extension to an existing CoC, please contact the IC staff first to determine the correct process.

This list also provides contact information for other DHHS agencies that issue Certificates. If your research is funded by one of these agencies, please contact the person listed below.
