The U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC) has

issued a Broad Agency Announcement on May 5, 1996 to solicit

Act provides $4 million to the Department of Defense to conduct the

Osteoporosis Research Program.

The 1996 program will follow the guidelines established by the U.S.

Congress with the assistance of the National Institute of Arthritis

and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases. The overall goals of the

program are to reduce the incidence of osteoporosis, decrease

morbidity, and improve the quality of life for those afflicted with

the disease. The program will emphasize research that is innovative

and relevant to osteoporosis. The deadline for the receipt of

applications is April 18, 1996. Grants will have a four year
