The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD)

is planning to award a contract for the conduct of laboratory testing

to study the immunologic status of hemophiliac children who have been

infected with HIV. The results of the battery of tests prescribed by

the Project Officer will be incorporated into the database for the

ongoing Hemophilia Growth and Development Study (HGDS). The HGDS

examines the physical growth and development as well as the

immunologic and neurodevelopmental status of the participants in a

longitudinal fashion. At the present time, samples for immunologic

testing are gathered from study participants from 14 U.S. clinical

centers. Samples are stored at a central repository at the National

Institutes of Health (NIH) and aliquots will be sent to a central

laboratory for immunologic testing. The previous contractor for the

immunologic laboratory testing for the HGDS was Associated Regional

and University Pathologists (ARUP) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The

successful contractor must have the resources or access to the

resources needed to conduct laboratory testing and process data in a

format that is compatible with the Data Coordinating Center for the

HGDS, i.e., ASCII formatted with IBM PC compatibility delivered in a

format that could be readily loaded into a data base.

The Request for Proposals (RFP) will present detailed information on

the tests to be conducted and the appropriate forms to be completed

for purposes of the study. It is anticipated that one to three

awards will be made for this acquisition; offerors may respond to all

or portions of the Statement of Work. The issuance of this RFP will

be on or about October 2, 1995 and proposals will be due by 4:00pm

(Eastern Daylight Time), on December 4, 1995.
