THE FEASIBILITY OF A COCHLEAR NUCLEUS AUDITORY PROTHESIS BASED ONMICROSTIMULATION NIH GUIDE, Volume 23, Number 34, September 23, 1994 RFP AVAILABLE: NIH-DC-95-02 P.T. 34 Keywords: Prosthetic Device, Hearing Neural Stimulation National Institutes of Health The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, National Institutes of Health, has a requirement to study the feasibility of an auditory prothesis based on microstimulating electrodes placed into the ventral cochlear nucleus. Although this research will be limited to animal studies, the ultimate goal is an auditory prosthesis for deaf individuals who cannot benefit from a cochlear prothesis. A three-year term form, cost reimbursement contract is anticipated. The solicitation is scheduled to be issued on or about September 28, 1994. Proposals will be due 60 days after the date of issuance of the solicitation. All responsible sources may submit a proposal that will be considered by the Government.
