EVALUATION OF CONTROL MEASURES AGAINST INFECTIOUS DISEASES OTHER THANAIDS NIH GUIDE, Volume 22, Number 44, December 10, 1993 RFP AVAILABLE: NIH-NIAID-DMID-94-29 P.T. 34 Keywords: Disease Control+ Infectious Diseases/Agents National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases The Respiratory Diseases Branch and Enteric Diseases Branch, Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) have a requirement for several Vaccine and Treatment Evaluation Units (VTEU). These VTEUs will conduct Phase I and Phase II clinical trials to evaluate candidate vaccines and other prophylactic/therapeutic measures for infectious diseases other than AIDS. A VTEU provides volunteer populations, staff, facilities, and expertise to carry out such work, which includes follow-up and focused epidemiologic-based studies. A variety of vaccine types (live, attenuated, inactivated, subunit, conjugated) for prevention of viral and bacterial illnesses are expected. Optional Contract Activities (i.e. they are optional for the Government to support) include the conduct of expanded Phase II and Phase IV vaccine clinical trials. Request for Proposals (RFP) NIH-NIAID-DMID-94-29 will be available on or about December 20, 1993, and proposals will be due at close of business March 1, 1994. It is anticipated that four to six cost- reimbursement, level-of-effort type contracts will be awarded for a period of seven years. Optional Contract Activities will be accomplished under conditions of cost-reimbursement, completion type contracts.
