National Cancer Institute (NCI), (http://www.nci.nih.gov)

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is requesting an application from the current awardee Group Chair of the AIDS Malignancy Clinical Trials Consortium (AMC).

The AMC initiative will provide support to continue the clinical research activities of the Consortium which are: 1) to rapidly develop and conduct innovative and hypothesis driven clinical trials (phases I, II, and III) aimed at improving the treatment and prevention of cancer in the context of HIV infection; 2) to identify and develop clinical and laboratory correlates that utilize the expertise of both National Cancer Institute (NCI)- and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)-sponsored scientists; 3) and to donate specimens and clinical data to the AIDS and Cancer Specimen Resource. The current AMC initiative consists of multiple awards, which are being consolidated into one application.

Continued support for the AMC is necessary to ensure that novel treatment approaches for HIV-positive patients with cancer are expeditiously evaluated and to ensure that laboratory discoveries relevant to HIV-positive patients with cancer are rapidly translated into the clinical setting. This Network will give high priority to collaborations with other NIH-sponsored HIV/AIDS clinical research programs and other relevant HIV and cancer research entities in order to effectively develop and implement a clinically relevant, interdisciplinary, and cost-efficient research program.

NCI will contact the current awardee directly regarding application procedures and format.
