Fogarty International Center (FIC)
The Fogarty International Center (FIC) intends to publish a FOA to solicit applications from current or former FIC grantees who propose creative and innovative research education programs to enhance the capabilities of scientists from low and middle income country (LMIC) institutions to use appropriate information and communication technology (ICT) to enhance research and research training. Proposed education programs should aim to significantly increase the capabilities of LMIC research institutions to develop, adapt, integrate and sustain ICT approaches that enhance research capacity.
This Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects.
Investigators with current or former FIC research or research training awards are invited to apply with their partners in these awards, bringing in new partners as needed to achieve the aims of the proposed program. The focus of the capacity building activities of the application must be institutions in LMICs (high income country institutions are not eligible) as defined by the World Bank (http://data.worldbank.org/about/country-classifications/country-and-lending-groups ).
Applications will be solicited for up to three years of support that include the following research education objectives:
1. Provide advanced research-related ICT educational opportunities for individual leaders and/or teams of LMIC scientists to gain the expertise to lead innovative and appropriate ICT activities in research and research training at their institutions or within their research networks. This may include initiatives in building eLearning capacity.
2. Provide mentored, targeted practicum ICT project support for participants as individuals or teams to acquire and use ICT knowledge and skills, or to select, access, and adapt global ICT resources, databases. tools, and software platforms to directly enhance collaborative research or research training at their LMIC institutions.
APPLICATIONS ARE NOT BEING SOLICITED AT THIS TIME.
