The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) intends to issue an Other Transactions (OT) Research Opportunity Announcement (ROA) for organizations to participate in the next phase of the NCATS Biomedical Data Translator Program.

NCATS plans to provide up to $8.5 million in FY2025 and will use the Other Transactions (OT) mechanism.

The purpose of the Biomedical Data Translator (Translator) program is to accelerate biomedical translation by developing a biomedical data translator for the research community that serves as a resource for computationally-assisted exploration of knowledge and construction of new research hypotheses. The Consortium has developed a minimum viable product (MVP) version of Translator, which allows users to access a wealth of biomedical knowledge from a variety of sources and connect that knowledge in novel ways to augment their own reasoning and inference. The Translator system supports the generation of new research hypotheses through interactions with knowledge graphs (KGs) through a series of highly-integrated software tools.

The Performance Phase awards will enhance the work of the Development Phase of the Translator Consortium. The Performance Phase awards are expected to improve the speed and accuracy of the results provided to users, as well as continue supporting new, high-value queries to our users.

Awards are anticipated for FY2025 and the timeline for funding opportunity publication, application publication, NIH review and establishment of awards is accelerated.
