Purpose
This Notice is to remind potential applicants of the second receipt date for RFA-RM-11-016, “Regional Comprehensive Metabolomics Resource Cores (RCMRC) (U24)" on February 15, 2013 and to clarify instructions for preparing appropriate budget requests and resubmissions for applications in response to this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA). In addition, this Notice provides instructions to access a recording of the pre-application teleconference originally held January 4, 2012. There will not be another pre-application meeting prior to the next application receipt date.
This Notice is intended to provide clarification on the following:
Section II. Award Information - Award Budget
CURRENTLY READS: Application budgets are not limited, but need to reflect actual needs of the proposed project. Budgets are expected to be higher in the initial years due to the need for equipment purchase.
SHOULD READ: Application budgets for the entire project period are expected to be below $10 million total costs. If higher budgets are proposed, a clear and compelling justification, reflecting actual costs is required. Budgets are expected to be higher in the initial years of the project period due to the need for equipment purchase and lower in the later years as the RCMRC transitions to a self-sustaining financial model.
Section IV. Application and Submission Information - Pre-Application Conference Call
INFORMATION IN FOA: The NIH Common Fund Metabolomics Program has scheduled a pre-application conference call in which all interested prospective applicants are invited to participate. Program and review staff will explain the goals and objectives of the funding opportunity announcement (FOA) for the Regional Comprehensive Metabolomics Resource Cores (RCMRC), discuss the application peer review process, and answer questions. The conference call is scheduled for January 4, 2012 at 1:00 pm Eastern time. Teleconference updates and access information will be posted on the Common Fund Metabolomics Program website (http://commonfund.nih.gov/metabolomics/index.aspx) before January 4, 2012.
UPDATED INFORMATION ABOUT PRE-APPLICATION CONFERENCE CALL: The NIH Common Fund Metabolomics Program held a pre-application conference call on January 4, 2012 in which all interested prospective applicants were invited to participate. Program and review staff explained the goals and objectives of the funding opportunity announcement (FOA) for the Regional Comprehensive Metabolomics Resource Cores (RCMRC), discussed the application peer review process and answered questions. A recording of this conference and an accompanying PowerPoint presentation and agenda are posted on the Common Fund Metabolomics Program website (http://commonfund.nih.gov/Metabolomics/grants.aspx).
