Purpose

The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, Office of Extramural Programs realizes that the path of Hurricane Sandy may cause problems in grant application submission for organizations located over a wide portion of the east coast. The usual NIOSH/OEP practices for such circumstances are that applications submitted late because of weather-related problems must include a cover letter noting the reasons for the delay. It is not necessary to get permission in advance for weather-related delays in grant application submissions. Generally, the delay should not exceed the time period that an applicant organization/institution is closed. However, due to the extent of the storm damage, NIOSH has extended the receipt date from November 30 to December 14, 2012.
