Notice Number: NOT-OH-06-004
Key Dates
Release Date: May 26, 2006
Application Receipt Date: August 6, 2006
Issued by
National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), (http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/homepage.html)
NIOSH anticipates a small reduction in extramural funding in FY2007; however, the anticipated budget reduction will not affect current support for the state-based surveillance program which will be continued at the FY2006 level.
Because this is a new program and many high-quality applications were received during the first two years, NIOSH committed all of the state-based surveillance program funds in FY2006 to build a broad-based program. These awards were for multiple years with level funding, resulting in the commitment for FY2007 being the same as in FY2006. Thus, no specific funds are available for new, revised, or competitive supplemental applications under the state-based surveillance program (PAR-04-106) for the August 6, 2006 receipt date. If any new or revised applications are submitted to this program announcement, they will be returned without review. Supplemental applications received for existing awards under PAR 04-106 will be assigned to the NIOSH general grants program (PAR-04-038) for the standard October 1, 2006 receipt date. Such supplemental applications may only address the following priority conditions: fatalities, silicosis, asthma and pesticide poisoning. Likewise, supplemental applications for the above priority conditions may be submitted directly under the general grants program announcement PAR-04-038.
In fiscal year 2008 (receipt date, August 6, 2007), NIOSH anticipates state-based program funds will be available and plans to resume acceptance of applications for the state-based surveillance program under a separate announcement.
Note: This notice does not affect the funding for current grantees under PAR-04-106.
Anyone interested in learning about the state-based occupational safety and health surveillance program is referred to our website for the complete announcement (PAR-04-106), as well as a notice with additional application guidance (PAR-04-106 Guidance).
