Purpose

As of October 1, 2024, NIH now includes a new Funding Opportunity Goals section in Part I. Overview Information in newly published notices of funding opportunities (NOFOs). The text included is derived from the Assistance Listing (AL) objective(s) found in SAM.gov. These changes were made in accordance with OMB Memorandum M-22-02, New Financial Assistance Transparency Reporting Requirements.

NIH supports the scientific integrity and transparency of all NIH funded projects throughout the funding life cycle of an award. The new Funding Opportunity Goals text provides the respective program AL Number objective(s) which aligns with award information that is reported in the Tracking Accountability in Government Grants System (TAGGS) as well as USASpending.gov.

Applicants are reminded to read the full text of any NOFO, including the detailed opportunity description, submission and review information, prior to applying. Refer to Understand Funding Opportunities for more detail on how to find and interpret NIH funding opportunities.
