Purpose

This Notice is to inform interested organizations about the pre-submission webinar for the Quit & Thrive Challenge: Community-Derived Solutions to Reduce Menthol Cigarette Smoking (https://prevention.nih.gov/QuitThriveChallenge).

This Challenge is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Disease Prevention (ODP) and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The goal of the Challenge is to showcase promising and innovative community-derived solutions to reduce menthol cigarette smoking among groups with disproportionately high rates of menthol cigarette use, including youth, racial and ethnic minorities, sexual and gender minority populations, and people with lower incomes. During the webinar, NIH and CDC staff will provide an overview of the Quit & Thrive Challenge, including objectives, submission instructions, and judging criteria, and they will answer questions from attendees. Specific questions should be emailed to ODP-QuitThriveChallenge@nih.gov at least 24 hours before the webinar. While an effort will be made to answer all questions during the webinar, presentations, or discussion, it is possible that not everything will be addressed due to time constraints.

All organizations interested in this Challenge are invited to attend. Participation in this webinar is optional and not a prerequisite for entering the Challenge. The webinar will be captioned in real time. Individuals needing reasonable accommodations should contact ODP-QuitThriveChallenge@nih.gov at least 5 business days before the webinar.

Organizations that are interested in entering the Challenge but not able to participate in the webinar are encouraged to review the slides and captioned recording of the event, which will be available approximately 4 weeks after the webinar at https://prevention.nih.gov/QuitThriveChallenge.
