Purpose

This Notice informs potential applicants that the NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health (ORWH) is participating, effective September 15, 2024, in the Notice of Funding Opportunity Announcement (NOFO) PAR-23-183, “NLM Grants for Scholarly Works in Biomedicine and Health (G13 Clinical Trial Not Allowed).”

ORWH is part of the Office of the Director, NIH, and works with the 27 NIH Institutes and Centers to advance rigorous research of relevance to the health of women. ORWH does not award grants but co-funds women’s health-related applications and research projects that have received an award from one of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs) listed in the announcement. Applications seeking ORWH co-funding should ensure that the proposed work is aligned with at least one goal and objective outlined in the 2024 -2028 NIH-Wide Strategic Plan for Research on the Health of Women (https://www.nih.gov/women/strategicplan).

ORWH has a particular interest in intersectional research projects relevant to the health of women, from diverse disciplinary perspectives, including but not limited to:

Gender and women’s studies
History of science and medicine
Graphic medicine
Narrative medicine
Health humanities
Rhetoric of health and medicine
Science and technology studies
