NIH Basic Behavioral and Social Science Opportunity Network (OPPNET)
Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD)
The purpose of this Notice is to indicate the intent to re-issue Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOA): PAR-19-373 or PAR-19-384 for Research on Biopsychosocial Factors of Social Connectedness and Isolation on Health, Wellbeing, Illness, and Recovery. The new companion FOAs will solicit new applications and invite applicants to PAR-19-383 or PAR-19-384 to re-submit applications for the March 17, 2021 final due date.
Background
In September 2019, OppNet issued two funding opportunity announcements (FOA) to invite research projects that seek to explain the underlying mechanisms, processes, and trajectories of social relationships and how these factors affect outcomes in human health, illness, recovery, and overall wellbeing.
The originally published PARs did not clearly state that resubmissions would be welcome in March 2021. NIH guidelines preclude changing review criteria via a Notice. Consequently, the original FOAs will be terminated early and reissued with these corrections and new PAR numbers for the next receipt date, March 17, 2021.
