The National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) are evaluating guidelines on the way appendix materials should be used in the grant submission, review and management process.

The changes are being considered for implementation concurrent with NIH/AHRQ’s transition to the electronic grant application process and the SF-424 (R&R).

As outlined in the August 2, 2006 NIH Guide Notice NOT-OD-06-088 at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-06-088.html, responses should be submitted electronically to http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfi_files/rfi_appendix_add.htm by September 14, 2006. The response for each item will be limited to 500 words.
