National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS)
The National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is interested in applications that fall within the NINDS mission space: https://www.ninds.nih.gov/about-ninds/what-we-do/ninds-mission. Applicants are strongly encouraged to confirm NINDS mission fit with the NINDS Small Business Program prior to submission.
For this NOFO, NINDS will only accept Phase I applications (not Fast-Track applications). Phase I budgets may exceed the SBA hard cap for specific topics. The current list of approved topics can be found at https://seed.nih.gov/sites/default/files/HHS_Program_Descriptions.pdf.
NINDS only accepts SBIR and STTR clinical trials through the NINDS Exploratory Clinical Trial funding opportunities PAR-23-311; and PAR-24-044.
Entrepreneurial development costs must be justified and consistent with the stage of development of the candidate and the proportion of time to be spent in entrepreneurial or career development activities. These funds may be used for the following expenses: (a) fees related to entrepreneurial or career development activities; (b) research-related expenses, such as supplies, equipment, technical personnel; and (c) travel to training activities. Applicants should include what are the expected positive outcomes in terms of their career development plan as a direct result of this investment. Applicants are encouraged to review the Suggestions for a Good Career Development Plan for further guidance on developing a robust career development plan.
Talented researchers from diverse backgrounds (including individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, individuals with disabilities, individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, and women; see Notice of NIH's Interest in Diversity), are strongly encouraged to apply. As outstanding research and innovation are driven by a diverse range of organizations, applications from the full spectrum of eligible institutions and small businesses (including those serving underrepresented or underserved communities, and from all domestic geographic locations) are encouraged to apply.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the NINDS Small Business Program prior to submission.
