Purpose

OPEN House Webinar for the D-SPAN F99/K00 Award

Graduate students and their mentors are invited to take part in a virtual OPEN House that will provide attendees resources for preparing an application for the NIH Blueprint and BRAIN Initiative Diversity Specialized Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Advancement in Neuroscience (D-SPAN) Award (F99/K00 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) (RFA-NS-24-030).

During this meeting, we will provide an overview of the application and scientific review processes. We will also provide resources to prepare your application. There will be an interactive opportunity to ask NIH staff from across neuroscience mission areas questions in breakout rooms.

Who should attend: This meeting is intended for graduate students, mentors, and sponsored grant officers looking to apply for the D-SPAN F99/K00.

The purpose of the NIH Blueprint and BRAIN Initiative Diversity Specialized Predoctoral to Postdoctoral Advancement in Neuroscience (D-SPAN) Award is to support a defined pathway across career stages for skilled graduate students from diverse backgrounds, including those from groups underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral sciences. This two-phase award will facilitate completion of the doctoral dissertation and transition of talented graduate students to strong neuroscience research postdoctoral positions, and will provide career development opportunities relevant to their long-term career goal of becoming independent neuroscience researchers.
