Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to inform potential applicants concerned with the NIH Blueprint Neurotherapeutics Network (BPN) Funding Opportunity Announcements about the areas of special interest. The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is interested in receiving applications directed at identifying and developing the new small molecule pain therapies. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) is specifically interested in receiving the highly innovative applications, entering the BPN in the discovery phase only, directed at identifying new small molecules devoid of addictive properties for the treatment of pain.

Additionally, the BPN will hold an informational webinar on the program for potential applicants. The webinar is recommended for investigators who have small molecule validated hit compounds and the disease biology assays to drive lead optimization who are interested in learning about the BPN and it virtual pharma model that brings NIH investigators together with NIH expertise, seasoned industry consultants and BPN's contract resources.

This webinar is optional and not required for submission of applications.
