Purpose

The National Institute for Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) will be holding an informational webinar on July 31, 2017 from 12-1:30 pm EST for the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) PAR-16-112, entitled "Biomarkers Discovery in Parkinsonism (U01)".

The webinar will provide a brief introduction to the FOA and current resources available through the NINDS Parkinson's disease Biomarkers Program (PDBP). Clinical or laboratory based biomarker discovery projects supported under this FOA include research directed towards the identification and/or replication of: 1) diagnostic, prognostic and progression biomarkers that differentiate synucleinopathies from tauopathies; or 2) diagnostic, prognostic and progression biomarkers for sub-types of Parkinson's disease (PD) including genetically defined cohorts, biologically defined cohorts of idiopathic PD and ethnic subgroups of idiopathic PD. The inclusion of cutting edge approaches such as telemedicine or mobile technology monitoring are encouraged.
