Purpose

As described in NOT-GM-14-104 NIGMS is no longer accepting applications in the neurosciences research area under the Systems and Integrated Biology (SIB) Predoctoral Training Program. Early stage neuroscience training programs that are currently supported by NIGMS are encouraged to apply to the Jointly Sponsored Predoctoral Training Program in the Neurosciences (JSPTPN, PAR-17-096) for NIH funding.

The purpose of this Notice is to inform institutions with neuroscience training programs that were previously or are currently supported by the SIB Program that they must submit new (Type 1) applications in response to PAR-17-096. Applications submitted as renewal applications (Type 2) by any program not currently or formerly supported by the JSPTPN FOA will not be accepted for review.
