Purpose

The purpose of this notice is to inform all those holding active grants that were funded under one of the three Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOAs) mentioned below that, effective immediately, administrative supplement support for FY 2014 participants will conform to the budgetary allowances described for participants in PAR-13-384.

NINDS issued three FOAs (RFA-NS-09-001, RFA-NS-10-002, and RFA-NS-12-003) that encourage the submission of administrative supplements for support of residents and fellows in Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuropathology and Neuroradiology to conduct research. In these three FOAs, the direct cost allowed for each participating resident or fellow was limited to $70,000. In November of 2013, NINDS published a new FOA (PAR-13-384) for continuation of this program. Because participant's salary and fringe requirements can exceed the $70,000 direct cost maximum, this new FOA omitted the dollar amount cap on direct cost support for each individual participant. This new FOA supports resident and fellow salary and fringe benefits up to 80% of the institution's PGY amount relevant for that participant, commensurate with the duration of the participant's commitment to the R25 program activities. In addition, an additional $3,000 per participant is provided for travel to a scientific meeting and an NINDS-sponsored workshop, and up to $10,000 per year is provided per program each year for administrative costs.
